Option to hide items without full artwork and metadata
Daniel Gustavsson
I would like to preface this by saying that I feel like Dispatch should be like a beautiful window into Plex, rather than something you browse endlessly. It is, after all, a launcher. It's front and center and aesthetics is important. So listen to this:
Some people have very large Plex libraries, with many obscure or foreign items. These will usually not have all the fancy artwork such as logos. This will take away from the aesthetics of Dispatch greatly.
So I suggest a toggle which hides any item that doesn't have a complete set of artwork and metadata. Of course, it should default to "off" but if a user wants the very best look, he can enable it.
All items can still show up if you go to the library tabs. This is only for the rows. And you can of course enter the Plex app itself for the more obscure stuff.
If possible, it can also be a quick toggle in the user menu (top right menu) with the other items (Network etc). Let's say it can be called "Showcase mode" or something like that. Good for quick toggling depending on the situation.
This would also make this request: https://dispatchlauncher.canny.io/feature-requests/p/if-background-with-text-does-not-exist-use-regular-background-for-thumbnail redundant, in a sense.
I got this idea from a game browser I used, which had this feature.
